Quandary for the PC crowd

The Berlin opera was considering a performance that included a scene with severed heads of Poseidon, Jesus, Buddha, and Muhammad. But, considering the expected reaction by Muslims, the opera decided against the show. I think they’re wrong for making the decision they did, but the art crowd have really got their panties in a bunch. Always being the ones who believe in freedom of expression (as long as you agree with them that elephant dung on a painting of Mary is art for example), they’re really beside themselves now that one of their own is suffering the pain of political correctness. Maybe now they’ll start to realize that tolerating intolerance isn’t the way to go.

  • Curious. They're not afraid of Catholic violence related to severed head jesus, nor of Asian violence related to severed head Buddha, nor of Greek Mythological violence related to severed head Poseidon, but rather they're afraid of the Muslim violence related to severed head Mohammed.

Are the Muslims really so paranoid about falling into the "sin" of idolotry that they have to kill/burn/mame/riot every time some poor schmuck creates an image of Mohammed? Do they really think that "idol worship" will break out at this crazy "Sprockets" version of a Mozart opera? They don't have a lot of faith in themselves, do they?

  • I have been thinking about this. I believe the cost of freedoms is not free. Some brave soul(s) need to risk life and limb to take on these terrorists. And these are truely the terrorists. This word gets tossed about alot these days, but these people are seeking to change the way we live through fear of violence. If they don't want to see the Prophet's severed head, don't go to this German Opera production. It is an artistic statement, not a political one. I hope the show goes on and the brave people of that area fill the seats and continue to support freedom of artistic expression and freedom of all expression.
