David Duke in Iran

The Chicago Sun Times, in a Tehran by-line, reports that former Louisiana Republican Representative David Duke will be joining those of a similar worldview in Iran this week to discuss the holocaust. Just a tip for anyone who ever thought either Duke or Mahmoud Ahma-lama-ding-dong were anything but a few buritos shy of a combo platter.

Duke joins deniers at Holocaust conference

  • Fox News had a similar story yesterday, with some quotes from Duke. The guy is a nutball. But if anyone thinks that having our President sit down and discuss issues with Mahmoud is a good idea, then let them explain this conference first.

  • The bigger picture here is the very old struggle between Iran and Iraq for regional dominance. Iraq 'won' the 1980s Iran / Iraq war, but quickly lost the support of the US. Gulf War II was supposed to be the final nail in the coffin for Iran, with a free, Democratic, oil-rich Iraq dominating the region. But the tables seem to have turned. Iran appears to be the new stable force in the region. I say talk to Mahmoud, though. He is an improvement over the Ayatollahs. Maybe we can help keep them going in that direction.
