Ave Rangia

I found this interesting discussion about the Rangia clams in Lake Pontchartrain on an equally interesting website with lots of information about the Lake. I’m sure my fellow Morphites will appreciate this resource. One amazing fact, there are enough clams in the Lake to filter the entire volume of water there every four days.

  • Every four days? That a lot of clams! I'm sure we all remember parking lots, roads etc. made out of these white shells. I also recall a marketing effort to get people to eat lake clams in the 1980s or so. Never caught on, but I don't know why. I used to leve the HoJos all you can eat clam dinners 9wasn't it Wednesday and Fridays?)
