Japan is Different

The low crime rate in Japan is legendary. But here is a story that says it all. A museum in Tokyo decided it was unnecessary to guard, or even cover, a huge block of gold valued at $2M.

  • must've been some non-japanese criminals. According to my calculations, gold weighs 1200 lbs per cubic foot, so 220 pounds of gold is a cube about 6.8 inches per side; or 1 inch thick, 12 inches wide and 26.4 inches long.
