In a few years that painting will probably be worth twice what it is now because of the hole. Where else can you buy a Picasso with a hole made by Steve Wynn?
I was thinking about the "shot through Marilyns" by Andy Warhol (is there a link around ...). Not a great version of the events, but some nut shot up Warhol's paintings (and Warhol? -- I forget) in the 1960s. http://web.reed.edu/reed_magazine/nov1998/makeover/3.html
Welcome to the official media outlet of M.I.R.T.H., a world-renowned think tank whose mission is explaining the world's complicated issues in a language that everyone can easily understand - the language of common sense. The Institute is named in honor Paul Morphy , native New Orleanian and perhaps the greatest chess player in history. Coincidentally, all M.I.R.T.H. Faculty members are direct descendents of Mr. Morphy.
