But you have to admit, Monkey Hill was some of the highest ground around :^) A few weeks back I had an otherwise educated and intelligent person tell me that rebuilding New Orleans was 'crazy' because it is right on the Gulf and below sea level. I mentioned that neither was true, and the combination of both was highly unlikley.
some interesting elevation maps at this blog: http://thethirdbattleofneworleans.blogspot.com/2006/07/maps-du-jour-new-orleans-relief-maps.html I never actually knew what 'Metairie Ridge' was. It seems to be an old bayou (Metairie Bayou) that was filled in.
Welcome to the official media outlet of M.I.R.T.H., a world-renowned think tank whose mission is explaining the world's complicated issues in a language that everyone can easily understand - the language of common sense. The Institute is named in honor Paul Morphy , native New Orleanian and perhaps the greatest chess player in history. Coincidentally, all M.I.R.T.H. Faculty members are direct descendents of Mr. Morphy.
