Interesting story about French wines v California wines. This is a realm of expertise I think the Institute should get involved with. Might get some free trips out of it.
I used to go to Napa, CA every April for a regular meetings from maybe 1993 onward. As late as 1995 it was still a sleepy little town. I understand that today the Napa area has more visitors than Disneyland. And all sorts of apartment / condos have sprung up. It seems to be turning into a suburb of San Francisco. But it's easy to go to the places outside of Sacramento, which is still probably a tourist-free zone. And most of the grapes come from the Central Valley anyway.
The wife & I have been a few times and notice the same thing. We've always enjoyed the V. Sattui winery from which you can mail order - their Riesling is delicious as is their Madeira. We're also big fans of the Oakville Grocery where we load up on olives, bread and cheeses to snack upon as we buy bottles of wine.
Welcome to the official media outlet of M.I.R.T.H., a world-renowned think tank whose mission is explaining the world's complicated issues in a language that everyone can easily understand - the language of common sense. The Institute is named in honor Paul Morphy , native New Orleanian and perhaps the greatest chess player in history. Coincidentally, all M.I.R.T.H. Faculty members are direct descendents of Mr. Morphy.

Perhaps the Institute should relocate there?
